While the Garden Overgrew | Mya Kerner & Zak Helenske

Dirkse/Prim Gallery is pleased to present a two-person exhibition, opening April 24, 2026, featuring new works by Mya Kerner and Zak Helenske.

Mya’s paintings are rendered loosely, wildly, with oil sticks and hands on a slippery surface of Yupo paper. This raw imagery is a response to shifting seasons, changes in vegetation, celestial passages, the swelling and ebbing of water.

Zak’s sculptures are about action and labor, energy source and energy exhaustion. He finds clarity in the manic activity of an art practice and is grounded by the physical intellectualization of labor, material, and creative research. He received a CEAP grant through Berks Arts and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to develop this body of work.

Exhibition Dates: April 24–May 31, 2026
Opening Reception: April 24, 5–8 PM
